March 4, 2013 through March 12, 2013.
Evergreen Medical Services has been contracted to perform Inspections and Testing of the Medical Gas Systems for MUHA at the following locations.
This testing is required by Joint Commission and SC-DHEC.
The bulk of the testing will affect every medical area that has medical gasses. Oxygen, Medical Air, Medical Vacuum (Suction), Carbon Dioxide, Nitrous Oxide, and Nitrogen. Evergreen Medical will be testing Medical Gas outlets that provide these products to the patient care areas. They will be required to enter every patient room, procedure area, and Operating room. The majority of the procedure rooms and Operating rooms will be done after hours and coordinated with the staff of those areas. When testing in an area (nursing unit) is starting a person from Evergreen Medical will ask to speak with the charge nurse to explain what will be done and if any precautions are needed.
Evergreen Medical is a company we have used before to do this inspection and testing. They do this type of work at many Hospitals. They are professional and are courteous to staff and patients. Please work with them.
The testing of medical gas outlets in patient care areas involves checking for outlets that leak, checking flow rates, and pressures. If an outlet is in use by a patient at the time of testing it will be documented as in use, all other outlets will be tested. At NO Time during this process will services be interrupted or patents removed from the system in order to test the systems. Evergreen medical will also be checking area alarms and zone valves during the inspection of clinical units.
Evergreen will compile a list of any items that need to be repaired in the form of a report to the Facilities Maintenance Department so that the items can be corrected.
If you have any questions about this process please contact me.
Thanks David Marek
