Lab Downtime- VERY IMPORTANT

Hi all,


• The MUSC Laboratory computer system will have a scheduled downtime this Saturday, October 26th from 11am – 5pm.

• Results for specimens collected during the downtime will be faxed to the ordering unit/floor upon completion.

• In order for results to be faxed without delay, all paper lab requests must include the units location stamp. This information directs where the results are to be faxed while our computer system is unavailable. Lab requests that lack where the specimen originated causes a reporting bottleneck and delays results to all areas.

On Saturday

• Ensure the unit fax machine is loaded with paper and in working order

• Avoid placing the patient’s form fast label over the location stamp.

• Print the ordering provider’s full name and pager on the lab request to document the correct ordering physician.

• Clearly print the date/time of collection
