Changes in Transporting Patients to the OR - For PICU Only

Starting Monday, 10/14/13, the anesthesia team will routinely begin picking up patients and transporting them to the OR. You should get a call from the holding room checking to see if the patient is ready, the holding nurse will come to the unit to check the preop documentation. The holding room nurse should provide a general idea of when the anesthesia team will come to pick up the patient. We will give anesthesia report when they come and only one staff member will need to help them transport. Hopefully this will speed up transfer to the OR and prevent us from having to wait so long for our equipment.

This protocol is already in effect for PCICU so no change for that location. Also, 7C and the other floors will remain the same.
