If you are taking care of a cardiology pt with a PICC line (usually placed in cath lab) please use 8D/PCICU as a resource for dressing changes. They use a smaller securement device and perform the change a specific way. The Peds Cards Educator, Bryna, and I are working on some education and skills days to practice. If we continue to only see these PICCs here and there, we will simply call 8D every time they need to be changed. If they become more common, we will formally educate everyone and add this procedure to next year's competency plan. Any questions or concerns, please let me know.
