Blood transfusion audits next week - Please be sure to follow proper procedures

Dear Nurse Managers,




Every two years the Transfusion Service performs an audit of blood transfusions to measure compliance with established blood administration policies and procedures. Transfusion Service staff will follow randomly selected blood products from dispense to the start of transfusion. An audit tool focused on critical steps in the blood transfusion process is used to standardize the assessment. Hospital wide compliance is tallied and results will be shared with the nursing service.



Please let your staff know that the transfusion audit process will begin on July 22nd.
