Hi all, Our monthly Safety Rounds have helped identify safety concerns on both units. As a result of these rounds, we have implemented two new practices: labeling of ALL lines, tubes and drains, & stocking formula bags on our units.
Labeling: ALL lines, tubes and drains must be labeled. Grey "other" labels may be used for foleys, JPs, chest tubes, etc. Feeding tubes may be labeled with blue "enteral feeding" labels. Please let me know if you have any questions.
Formula: Nutren JR, Nutren JR with Fiber, and Peptamen JR are now stocked on both units. On 7C they are in the formula cabinet, in PICU they are in the cabinet next to the diapers. If you notice only one bag left, please order a new case by sending a faxed formula request to dietary stating "floor stock" under patient name, and "1 case" under amount. During days, our unit secretaries are able to order cases. Please see me with questions.
