Finally Moving In and a few Updates

PICU/7C Team, Just wanted to let you know that we are finally moving into the new house. I will be on vacation starting as soon as I finish this blog post! :) Amelia Little has graciously agreed to cover for me in my absence. Amelia can be reached on pager 11532 or extension 2-9934. On the weekends, there will be a manager on call for all of CH as usual. I will return to work on Monday, August 19th, ready to meet with the rest of you regarding your evaluations. I have already written some of them and send them for your review. Do not worry if you haven't gotten one yet. I have 39 left and are doing them in no particular order. Please remember, WE WILL MEET IN PERSON TO DISCUSS. I just find it easier to send to you ahead of time so that you can read it thoroughly and have any questions prepared for the in person meeting. Erin O'Donnell and Debbie Browning are also around to help as needed. 7C's schedule is posted and Jennifer will post the PICU's when she returns next Thursday. She has been working on it while on vacation in the Keys (dedicated woman that she is!). We will start using the Checkpoint monitoring system for the medication refrigerators. All of the charge RNs will receive the short training to know what to do. Basically, if the refrigerator temp is out of range, you will get a text message on the charge RN phone and you need to go check it and get the temp back into compliance. This will eventually replace the temp logs on the doors that are not always completed each day. For now, keep recording the temps each day as usual. Don't forget to tell Jennifer Franks goodbye and good luck. Her last day is tomorrow. She has been a wonderful member of our peds critical care team and taken such great care of our patients! Shout out to BROOKE NITTERHOUSE who was recognized for her wonderful FAMILY CENTERED CARE by the family of bed 2 who passed away on Tuesday evening. The uncle apparently works in STICU and said he was so thankful that we made it all about their family! Thank you all for your amazing work, compassion, and generous spirits. It is a real honor to be your nurse manager. Melinda
