New Text-Paging Guidelines: trial period starts tomorrow

As discussed in our staff meeting, we are trialling new text-paging guidelines in the PICU and NICU to help decrease phone call interruptions and increase efficiency of the Residents.  The hope is, this will improve communication and enhance patient safety.  Each page will begin with a response code: URGENT for response within 10 min, FYI for response within 1 hour, and NRR for No Response Required.  Below you will find the ISBAR format and examples of appropriate conditions for each response code.  Following the ISBAR format will keep pages concise and complete, saving both the RN and MD time.  We will begin using this process tomorrow, Thursday May 2, 2013.  These guidelines will be posted throughout the unit for your reference.
