Nominate one of our awesome nurses for Nurse of the Year!



Please see below for instructions on how to nominate a peer for MUSC Nurse of the Year.  We will also honor one RN per unit.  Please submit your unit nominations via the Survey Monkey links below no later than April 1st.

 



Hospital-wide Nominations:

Each year MUSC honors the "Nurse of the Year." This year, winners will be selected in seven categories, Leadership and the six components of the Professional Practice Model (PPM): Expertise, Innovation, Accountability, Advocacy, Integrity, and Collaboration. Criteria for each category are provided below and on the Nomination Form, linked from the NOY home page.  Nominees must be employed as a Clinical Nurse, Nursing Professional Development Facilitator (previously titled Nurse Educator), or Nurse Manager.
Requirements for all nominees:
1.         The nominee must be a registered nurse in current position for at least one year.
2.         The nominee must be respected and admired by patients, families, co-workers and students.
3.         The nominee always adheres to MUSC Standards of Behavior.
4.         The nominee cannot be in current disciplinary action.
5.         The nominee is employed by MUHA in a permanent position.

All nominations must be submitted online and received by noon April 2, 2014.

Innovation
Candidate must have demonstrated one of the following:
·         Used scientific to shape nursing practice, building knowledge that moves the discipline of nursing forward and enhances the care of people, families, as well as the community
·         Completed the evidence based practice workshop
·         Completed the clinical scholars program
·         Utilized new technology to improve care of patients
·         Implemented an evidence based project in their department

Integrity
Candidate must have demonstrated one of the following:
·         Using the ANA code of ethics demonstrated the care of one’s self and colleagues
·         Demonstrated the importance of professional development
·         Was a member of a professional organization
Accountability
Candidate must have demonstrated one of the following:
·         Demonstrated the MUSC professional standards of behavior
·         Implemented a project that demonstrated fiscal responsibility
·         Standing member of a committee
·         Implemented a project that improved regulatory compliance
Advocacy
Candidate must have demonstrated one of the following:
·         Daisy Award winner
·         Ensure that the concerns of patients and families are included in the treatment process
·         Resource for patients and families
Collaboration
Candidate must have demonstrated on of the following:
·         Precepted a new employee
·         Active member of an interdisciplinary Improve team
·         Member of an interdisciplinary committee that improved either patient care or work environment
Expertise
Candidate must be one of the following:
·         CN III
·         Certified in their specialty
·         Have an advanced practice degree
·         Demonstrated expert level in care provided using Benner’s model from novice to expert
Leadership         
Candidate must demonstrate one of the following:
·         Committee chair or co-chair
·         Implemented a department based project that improved the care of patients and furthered the knowledge of staff
·         Effectively communicates with an interdisciplinary team to ensure the safe practice in their specialty
