A few reminders:
EPIC
Please check your email for instructions for registering for EPIC training, and make sure you sign up in the break rooms as well. Contact me ASAP with any issues, thanks.
CVLs
I want to clarify central line documentation: when assessing the "site appearance" you are looking at the insertion site, not the dressing. If the sutures/stat-lock are not secure, please document this. If you have notified an MD (as you should ANY time a line is not secure) please document this as well. The "site dressing" documentation is separate. A line that is not secure is an urgent matter that requires MD notification. I have heard "they know about it" and "they don't care" yet nothing is documented. If you continue to receive these responses, please let me know (and document it!)
I will be starting L/D/A rounds daily around 12pm. I will be assessing all patients for the necessity, security, and patency of their Lines, Drains and Airways. I hope this extra assessment will help decrease our CAUTI rates and ensure the safety and security of our lines and airways.
Competency
Many of you have been working on your competency packets, which is great. Let me know if you're encountering issues. We should have the PD Cycler available in PICU within the next few weeks.
PICU Half-Pint training
If you haven't done so already, please complete the half-pint study training videos. I do not want this training to overlap EPIC. I realize this is A LOT to ask of you all this year- many new systems, equipment and processes. That is why I want you get things done one piece at a time.
As always, don't hesitate to email me with any questions or concerns. Thanks everyone!
Erin
