This practical
skills-based course is designed to provide participants
with knowledge and hands-on experience to increase competency and
skill level for performing IV Therapy. Reviews of legal,
professional and safety issues are included, as well as age specific
considerations, complications, central lines, practical skills
assessments, and tips for success with IVs.

1. Identify legal/professional liabilities
of the RN/LPN pertaining to IV therapy.
2. List two IV considerations for various
age groups.
3. Perform peripheral IV insertion utilizing
proper technique.
4. Discuss central lines.
5. Identify complications associated with IV
therapy.

Target Audience
& Continuing Education Credits:

Nursing: This nursing continuing education activity
awards 6.0 contact hours upon successful completion.
Lowcountry AHEC is an approved provider of
continuing education by the South Carolina Nurses Association, an
accredited approver by the American Nurses Credentialing Center's
Commission on Accreditation.
All Participants: This program provides 6.0 clock hours
(0.60 CEUs) by Lowcountry AHEC and meets SC AHEC Continuing Education
Best Practice Standards.
