USUAL DKA fluid
ALTERNATIVE FLUID during KPhos shortage
Normal Saline bag with electrolytes
NaCl 154 mEq/L with
K Acetate 20 mEq/L and
KPhos 20 mmol/L
(total sodium = NS)
NaCl 114 mEq/L with
K Acetate 20 mEq/L,
KCl 20 mEq/L, and
Sodium Glycophos 20 mmol/L  (=40 mEq Na)
(total sodium = NS)

D10 bag with electrolytes
D10W with
0.45% NaCl (77 mEq/L)
K Acetate 20 mEq/L and
KPhos 20 mmol/L
(total sodium = ½ NS)
D10W with
NaCl 37 mEq/L,
K Acetate 20 mEq/L,
KCl 20 mEq/L, and
Sodium Glycophos 20 mmol/L (=40 mEq Na)
(total sodium = ½ NS)
